Cast your mind back to ten years ago – yes I know it's hard, but think. You wanted to buy a new camera or a new TV. What did you do? Yes – you researched the product as much as you were able by visiting as many shops as possible and seeing what was on offer.

You may even have invested in a specialist magazine which offered impartial information on what to buy.

Now flick back to the present day and a whole new world has appeared – the world of the review site!! Now there is nothing we do not pick up a mouse and write about. From the technical such as entertainment and home appliances, through to more unusual types of sites such as online dating single sites or even find a Bride sites!

The key is to eek out the good ones from the downright phoney and it is interesting to note that those being reviewed are fighting back – recently it was reported that some proprietors of hotels slated in a well-known travel site are threatening to take the reviewers to court for libel.

Unfortunately, review sites do give people the opportunity to propagate biased views for whatever reason – maybe they are a competitor or hold a personal grudge and it is easy for them to post a review under a false email address that is completely fake.
